Overview
This mapping application provides a summary of chemical water quality monitoring that was collected in streams between 2016-2022 by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Bureau of Water Protection and Land Reuse (WPLR), Monitoring and Assessment Program.
Sages Ravine, Salisbury CT
To fulfill obligations under the Federal Clean Water Act (CWA), particularly Sections 305 (b)
and Sections 303 (d), DEEP submits the
Integrated Water Quality Report (IWQR) to the United
States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) every two years. The IWQR contains the
“final assessment” for many different designated uses of Connecticut’s aquatic resources but
does not contain any specific detail about the data behind these assessments. The purpose of this application is to provide more detailed summary information on core inland monitoring program elements of the DEEP Water Monitoring and Assessment Program at a level not found in the IWQR. Raw data summarized in this report is available can be accessed by clicking on the links provided which downloads the information from the water quality portal. Users can also go directly to the portal website to download the raw data.
About the map
The map displays sampling locations where data has been collected for the specified parameters within the noted timeframe. Select a parameter from the dropdown on the legend to see the range of values for that parameter across the State. The legend indicates colors associated with Statewide percentiles. Each site is displayed as a given color depending on where it falls within the Statewide range. The legend also includes (at certain screen resolutions) a plot that includes percentiles for major hydrologic drainage basins. The user can click on a site to open a popup that includes information on the displayed max value, as well as, the range of values observed at that site for the noted timeframe. The popup also includes a link to download the raw data for that site.
Additional information on the data included in the map can be found at CT DEEP Monitoring and Assessment Program Website.
